Squiz University — Nursing
Nursing at Squiz University prepares students to provide safe, evidence-based care across hospitals, community settings, and aged care. Students learn to assess patients, plan interventions, and work in multidisciplinary teams — from acute wards to primary health.
The degree is offered at both the Sydney and Melbourne campuses. The first two years build shared foundations in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and foundational clinical skills. Later years branch into acute care, mental health, community nursing, and leadership in practice.
Duration: Three years full-time (or part-time equivalent).
Entry: Year 12 completion (or equivalent). English and a science subject are strongly recommended. Health and police checks are required before clinical placements.
Practical work: Simulation labs and supervised clinical placements across partner hospitals and community services give students time with real patients and care teams.
Domestic students: $8,800 per full-time year (indicative 2026).
International students: $36,500 per full-time year (indicative 2026).
Fees cover tuition only. Allow about $800–$1,400 per year for uniforms, immunisations, textbooks, and placement travel. Eligible domestic students may defer tuition through HECS-HELP.
Year 1: Human biology, foundational nursing skills, professional practice, and introductory pharmacology.
Year 2: Pathophysiology, acute and chronic care nursing, mental health foundations, and supervised clinical placements.
Year 3: Primary health and community nursing, leadership in practice, research literacy, and a clinical capstone placement.
Graduates are prepared for registration pathways and roles in acute care, community nursing, aged care, mental health, and specialty units. Employers include public and private hospitals, primary health networks, and aged-care providers. Many later specialise or continue into postgraduate nursing study.
